Queensland Historical Atlas web site launched

The Queensland Historical Atlas is a new conception of Queensland’s cultural and environmental history presented through a set of fourteen themes. It contains high-quality scans of historical maps, photos, objects and peer reviewed essays.

The client was the University of Queensland, School of History, Philosophy, Religion and Classics. Thinking Cap together with communications partner, Niche Consultants designed the look-and-feel and developed the technical infrastructure, creating a digital repository of maps, art, objects, photos and essays. The repository contains around 100,000 words of text, 1000 resources and continues to grow. The public can also contribute their own maps via the website.

The site was launched on 7 December 2010 by the Queensland Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Stirling Hinchliffe. More information about our role in the project is available.
